With 40 years of experience in the field, Jamesway Mechanical Piston pumps are famous for their reliability and long life. These simple pumps require only minimal maintenance and yet will provide many years of trouble-free performance. The Mechanical Piston pumps are designed to transfer manure from the barn to storage at very high throughput, making these the pumps of choice when capacity is critical.
Solid manure or semi-solid manure with long bedding (max 1 bale per 10 cows) should only be used with the 10 x 14 base unit. This pump discharges through 15” diameter PVC pipe, and the maximum distance will vary from 80 to 150 ft with a 10HP motor, depending on the manure consistency. Some additional water is always required to help manure flow into the hopper.
Slurry or liquid manure can be pumped with either base unit but the smaller 10 x 10 model is usually preferred because it is able to pump longer distances. This unit uses 12” diameter PVC pipe and can pump up to 200 ft with a 10HP motor. Either base unit may also be equipped with 7.5 or 15HP motors for shorter or longer pipe lengths. Your Jamesway Dealer will help select the correct model for your needs.
The pumping cylinder and piston are the guts of the machine. On the downstroke, the piston pushes manure through the cylinder and past a flapper door. On the upstroke, manure passes through the hollow piston. The front of the piston is a flapper door, and as the piston begins the next downstroke, the flapper closes and pushes the manure ahead of it. While the base unit is permanently installed in concrete, all working parts are easily removable for future service or replacement. It will take many years to wear these parts out but when you need to replace them, an inexpensive ReNew Kit makes your pump brand new again.
